Star Ward!

Star Wars characters visited Queen Silvia's Child and Youth hospital in Göteborg, Sweden.

The Empire strikes back! But this time they are not aiming to take over the universe, instead they aim towards charity.
Several well known Star Wars characters visited Queen Silvia's Child and Youth hospital.

"It felt good that they came. I like the first movie best and Darth Vader is my favourite. He has a cool gadget on his chest and a cool red lightsaber", says Oscar, 10, from Kungsbacka.

Nordic Garrison is part of a world wide organisation where the members create their own Star Wars costumes. Making the costumes actually breaks copyright laws, but as long as they work with charity, George Lucas (the creator of Star Wars) accepts this.

Yesterday, they visited Queen Silvia's Child and Youth hospital on an initiative from the fundraising foundation at the hospital.

"Activities like this help the children to shift focus and they can summon energy to fight their illness", says Thomas Gedda, manager of the foundation.

And it seems like the children did shift focus. They got to sword fight with Darth Vader and Nordic Garrison gave toys to the ward worth 25 000 SEK.

'Bad guys doing good'

"Our aim is to give the children a brief moment where they can forget about their illness", says Janne Sandin from Nordic Garrison.

Nordic Garrison collects most of the money from company activities. And everything collected goes towards charity, mostly helping kids. Janne Sandin explains that they usually name their work 'bad guys doing good'.

"I really appreciate the way they arrange things here. We've been here three weeks now and there has been loads of activities. I'm happy to see that they put some effort into it", says the parent, Marcus Skymberg, 35, from Trollhättan.
