22400 Shore build

Post by 22400 » 11 Oct 2016, 01:07

Hi there. This will be my first build thread and I am working on the shoretrooper. Most parts are recieved/ordered or in the mail system somewhere. I will try to keep this updated and feel free to give feedback if you have ideas of course. I will add a list of items at the bottom of this post, mostly to double check myself if i've forgotten something but also a checklist for other people interested in the Shories.

Image Found a small hole last night, so was back out with the epoxy to fill it back up. Been finding one each time i fix one, but hopefully this is the last so I can move forward. Hmmm dunno how to resize it. I'm sorry.

Image Gotta do some sanding on the right "eyelid" section. Had a hole there, and got unlucky with epoxy so it ruined the sharp edge, so gotta sand it back.

Image Ammo pouch with oiler. The oiler pouch will most likely be glued onto the hard part of the belt in the back.

Image Jodphur pants. Look pretty darn awesome.

List of parts:

Helmet: Have Jim Tripons glassfiber version.Great quality
Armour kit: On its way in the mail, also Jim Tripon glassfiber.
Pants: Jodphurs made by Cole Brant on specops
Gloves: Anthology Trooper Glove from Imperialboots - Shipped (Incredibly fast. Ordered last night)
Yugoslavian m56 magazine pouches w/ oiler pouch: Recieved from Finland.
Boots: Orca Bay Brecon chelsea boots ordered from lhco.co.uk. Sand is supposed to be the correct colour, but Havana is closer in my opinion. Will weather them down anyway.
Hip plate cylinders: Ordered a 3d printed set of 3 from Foxhound (Greg) on specops
Belt: Ordered some 1.5" coyotebrown nylon webbing from ebay. Brown belt done before i switched, got black webbing coming for correct kama belt.
Undershirt: Gonna try to make this myself once i figure out how to make ribs in fabric. Barely learned how touse a sowing machine at all so far. haha
E-11 flashlight: m300 Sure fire ordered from ebay. Looks pretty close to original. will be weathered a bit anyway.
Neoprene sheets 1/4": Ordered
Kama: ordered from vendor on Etsy.

Image Finally some progress. After a week of home guard training and so on, I was finally able to get more work done. Here is the helmet drying after being cleaned of a whole lot of glassfiber dust.

Image I got the wrong plastidip.... Meant to have black, so I have to do a little painting over that when it is dry. But atleast it will do its job :)

ImageMost of the kit is now drying after being clesned and sanded on the inside to get rid of itchy long fibers and stuff. Once dry i have to try and figure out how to strap and put it all together.

I will follow the german garrison i think and use RAL 1015. Mostly due to the difficulties im having with finding 1014 here, but also alot due to pricing. I had "Bilxtra mix me up 5 cans of 1014 (it honestly looked like 1015 when i tried it) but it instantly cracked all over on the helmet. It's the only place here i have found it aswell. So i ended on the 1015 due to that aswell as the failed 1015 was 1600 NOK for 5 cans while Europris and many other places 1015 is like 60 - 80 NOK per can.

Image Very slowly started to remove some paint in some spots before using Burnt Umber washes with some dark grey wash. First time weathering so afraid of taking too much.

Image Some of the main kit getting their first coat of ivory. I have changed my scheme from grunt to Squad Leader due to using a kama will be better for my heigth aswell as being able to sit. :)

Having a hard time finding a Norwegian/ Scandinavian substitute for the red and yellow paints. Not easy to find sellers on ebay who shops to norway with paint. So if anyone has any ideas of good substitutes, i would be really glad to hear them. Also interested in all feedback in general both bad or good. :)
