DH-17 Blaster made in metal

Post by sesewest » 16 Oct 2017, 21:34

Hey

Im looking to buy a DH-17 Blaster made in metal, I want it to have that authentic weight to it.
Ive posted on two other forums, but I thought i might as well post here. See if anyone knows a good maker of them, so give me a link or a name if you know someone.

It is often recommended that blasters are somewhat lightweight so that you won't get fatigued carrying it around. They did not have slings, you know.
All DH-17s in ANH and ESB were made from resin so a solid resin blaster would have close to movie-accurate weight anyway.

I thought that maybe there Where one in metall. But if it got some Nice Weight to it in resin then that could work to. Where did you buy yours?

Hasbro made some nice DH-17 blasters few years ago, you might find those from Ebay or somewhere else, around 30 Euro's Just sand them a bit, add some bolts or screws in, and as soon as you are happy with the weight, paint the blaster and you are good to go.

Here's an Amazon listing for these, but those are a bit to big price... Still this is the blaster you might want to look for; https://www.amazon.com/Star-Rebel-Troop ... B006CD1NNM

I neglected to mention that there is an "available" ANH DH-17 replica in metal: Master Replica's Rebel Trooper Blaster from 2004.
It was a limited edition, sold at $450 USD in stores but the prices on eBay now are around three times that.
It was also made from solid metal so it is ridiculously heavy.

The one in my avatar picture is a highly modified Hasbro, made into a ESB version over many hours.

The Hasbros are very light, being made of hollow plastic. Like most replicas, it was based on Master Replicas' interpretation of the original, but some details such as the trigger are different and the toy is shorter.
My conversion was lengthened in the back but is smaller than an original blaster in front of the trigger.

I saw that you are the RPF, and you might already have seen this: 3D printed DH-17 Blaster - work in progress. I have seen 3D-printed blasters on eBay that I think were made from this guy's files - if not by the same guy.

BTW, the files are available for free if you want/are able to 3D-print it yourself.
