Scout Trooper Build

Post by 87101 » 13 Sep 2017, 14:52

Armor has arrived and the Helmet is on the way, so it's time to get to it!

Going to have to get some tools since I don't really have any at home. :lol

I'm already dreading cutting into the armor with my butterfingers... if anyone near Malmö wants to help all help is welcome. :)

Been looking at this glue gun:

http://www.clasohlson.com/se/Limpistol- ... 80/40-6998
is it good enough or should I spend a bit more?

and what about this dremel tool:

https://www.netonnet.se/art/hem-hushall ... gJsNPD_BwE

and any tips for a good rivet gun?

any other tips? what grade of sandpaper should I use to smooth out the armor edges?

The dremel is ok, get a good scissors for cutting plastic. What are you going to use the glue gun on? if you are gluing the parts together with that, forget it. Get E6000 glue.
Rivet gun, just get the cheap one from clasohlson

Good point, just read glue gun in the instructions but maybe thats overkill? E6000 it is!

Anyone know what lexan scissors (for plastic) are called in Swedish?

Yeh, avoid the hotglue guns, as the glue will not work on the armors, with high temperatures it will unglue, and at low temps it will break. E6000 is better, and available from Ebay or shops perhaps near you.

As for the sanding paper, you can just use 100-200 grit sanding paper, on the edges, after you have cut them with dremel or Xacto blade.

Strapping and belt parts can be bought from Ebay as well, just check the CRL about the measurements and go for them. Velcro is also abailabel in Ebay or shops near you.

Check the pathfinders forum for how to put the armor together, make fabric parts etc. Link here; http://forum.bikerscout.net/index.php?act=home

Lexan are called Lexan. Check out hobbex, they used to have.

Rivet gun, sanding paper, glue on velcro etc, Biltema. Take the wet sanding type, but don't use them wet, they work fine dry. Try to find rivet washers (nitbricka), Jula used to have that.

Straps, sew on velcro, elastics etc, stoffostil at Svågertorp.

For E6000 beware on ebay, there are a lot of fake ones being sold (who the hell fakes glue...), but you don't need much so look online at jewelry stores.

So head out on a shopping spree at Svågertorp :-)

So they are. My google skills failed me yesterday it seems.

Good tips. Alot of the straps etc are actually included in the kit but need alot of things for my soft goods aswell. Good thing my mother-in law is excellent at sewing.
